As we all look ahead to the possibilities of a new year, it’s understandable to feel disheartened in the face of the climate crisis right now. Net Zero 2025

The disappointment and frustration of inaction reported during COP29, closely following the election of President Trump – a known climate denier – and the overall challenge to reach Net Zero by 2050, can feel overwhelming.

But the scale of this challenge and the changes that must be made by governments, businesses and individuals to meet international climate targets shouldn’t detract from the headway that is being made at a grassroots level, every single day.

As a business committed to supporting UK organisations in advancing to Net Zero in 2025, we see the passion, appetite and commitment that already exists in embracing the challenge of Net Zero head-on. We mustn’t forget to celebrate progress.

That’s also why we believe in making knowledge, expertise and solutions available to every organisation in the UK. Because collective progress delivers collective impact.

Here’s my advice to every organisation out there to kick-start the year in a positive way.

  1. Recognise and celebrate what’s happening within your organisation. There’s already lots of good stuff to talk about, and it’s a great motivator to do more.
  2. Share that success and best practice externally because it will inspire others to take steps forward in their journeys.
  3. Don’t be afraid to admit what you don’t know – this is hard, and no-one has all the answers. But someone else does.
  4. Reframe the challenge – you WILL save money by reducing your energy consumption, choosing a more cost-effective renewable supply, or even adding on-site generation. Steps like these create a positive impact at your own micro-level. The bonus is the cumulative climate benefit will follow. The two are one and the same.

The good news? The clean energy transition is underway, and I believe it is unstoppable. Here’s to Net Zero 2025.

And we can get there, together.
